This campaign will raise funds for our school by encouraging parents and friends to shop at Royal Randwick Shopping Centre. Every dollar spent in-centre by customers can be allocated to points for our school. The schools with the most points per student at the end of the campaign win. The prizes are:

The Development Application for the above site is listed for hearing by the Land and Environment Court on 17, 20, 21 and 22 March 2017. This is the area to the North of our school, between Barker, Young, Jane and Botany Streets. Belinda Simmonds has registered to speak on behalf of the Rainbow Street Public School P & C, to object to the development in relation to child safety concerns, overshadowing, parking and traffic concerns. The hearing will commence at 9.30am on the 17th March in Young Street. The hearing is open to the public. Please come along and show your support.

Sign Petition to Save Gonski!!

Tell NSW Premier Mike Baird and NSW Education Minister Adrian Piccoli to fight Turnbull’s Gonski cuts.

P&C Federation is asking parents to unite and support Gonski, if Malcolm Turnbull cuts funding after 2017 the impact on our public schools and most importantly our students will be devastating.

To save Gonski we need to work together to make sure the Turnbull plan is rejected by state and territory governments and the Senate.

New researchreveals that along with getting rid of Gonski, the Coalition will direct money away from the public schools and students that need it most.

Under Turnbull’s plan schools in NSW would miss out on $1.4 billion in funding in 2018 and 2019 alone.

Imagine what those resources could achieve at your school, and how students could benefit from more in-class support, targeted literacy and numeracy programs and better access to professional development for staff.

Gonski funding is changing lives and the full six years are vital to ensuring all schools get the resources they need.

Our school will be holding our bi-ennial art show in August, in the Big Barn at Inglis Stables. Our children have all been working hard on their individual art works, as well as joint year works which will be auctioned. The P & C assist the school with setting up & packing up the Art Show, as well as providing morning tea for one open morning & hosting an evening event & auction. We need volunteers to assist with the following activities.

Monday 15th August Setting up 9 – 12 & 12 - 3pm

Tuesday 16th August Setting up 9 – 12 & 12 - 3pm

Wednesday 17th August Setting up & supervising morning tea 9-11am; setting up for the Evening Event 5-6pm; helping with bar 6-9pm; packing up 9-9.30pm.

Thursday 18th August Packing up 9 – 12 & 12 - 3pm

We need a person to supervise the bar on Wednesday evening who has an RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) certificate.

We also need volunteers to ask businesses for prizes to use for a raffle, & to bring baked goods for the morning tea.

Major Capital Works Update - Rainbow Street Public School - May 2016

Information Booths at Rainbow Street Public School

Wednesday 11th & 25th May, 8.30-9.30am

The Rainbow Street Public School upgrade project is nearing the end of scheme design. The endorsed design will provide 35 new classrooms, 5 refurbished classrooms ( in the original school building ), new library and special purpose rooms, refurbished staff amenities ( in the original school building ), new toilets and an increase in the size of the school hall. The ground floor play space will include landscaped areas for passive play and outdoor learning, two new multi-purpose sport courts and new handball play spaces. All demountables on the site will be removed as part of the project.

New classrooms will be based on future focussed learning models with collaborative and flexible learning spaces. There is also a strong emphasis on creating outdoor learning environments to provide students with a diverse range of teaching spaces, making the new school a fun and exciting place to be. Accessibility has also played a strong role in the design process with two lifts and covered walkways providing access to all parts of the school.

We are currently preparing for the Development Application (DA) to Randwick Council. At the same time the design team is progressing with Detailed Design for the elements that have been finalised as part of the scheme design process.
